Tremec is committed to supplier development

The company seeks indirect inputs with REPSE certification and a positive opinion from the SAT

IN BRIEF/
< The automotive sector company is committed to the development of Mexican suppliers, and is currently seeking indirect products and services. >

Tremec is a company dedicated to the development of regional suppliers, particularly those based in Querétaro. This commitment is reflected in the percentage of indirect inputs already supplied to its plants in Querétaro, with approximately 65 to 70% coming from companies based in the country. Meanwhile, for raw materials, the percentage of national inputs is around 50%.

“There are some highly specialized items that come from our clients, which unfortunately we cannot nationalize, but the majority is already focused on Mexico,” said Perla Escalante, Global Leader of Indirect Purchasing at Tremec.

“The company supports the entire sector present in Querétaro. For TREMEC, national inputs are of great importance,” she emphasized. Currently, Tremec is seeking suppliers for hazardous waste collection, hard machining, heat treatments, coatings, and many other services.

To become part of Tremec's value chain, suppliers must have their REPSE certification and a positive opinion from the SAT. “First, we ensure that the supplier meets our requirements, then we evaluate whether the offer is competitive, and we review their legal, fiscal, administrative, and quality aspects,” Escalante explained, adding that they seek suppliers who can provide competitive proposals in terms of price, quality, and delivery time.

Seeking Professional Suppliers

Escalante noted that, due to the market's demand for companies to grow, driven by nearshoring, the country has a significant opportunity that small and medium-sized enterprises must seize.

“To be part of large companies and Tier 1 suppliers in the automotive sector, SMEs need to professionalize. This includes having a corporate email and training staff to handle requirements and customer service. Service, attention, and speed in quotations and material delivery are crucial,” the procurement expert said, adding that competition in the region is increasing, so suppliers must adapt, innovate, and invest in what will make them more professional and competitive.

“We are a company that constantly seeks to build relationships with the Automotive Cluster and other governmental or private business entities because we greatly appreciate the investment being made to support entrepreneurs who want to make a name for themselves in the region,” she said.

Querétaro Headquarters

Tremec operates two plants in Querétaro, where they manufacture components such as gears, shafts, and original equipment assemblies, including transmissions and mechatronic assemblies.
