Metso expands in Guanajuato

Groundbreaking ceremony for the polymer filter plate factory

IN BRIEF/
< The continuous development of Irapuato, as well as its economic dynamism, allow companies, like Metso, to continue betting on the municipality, by expanding its facilities. >

The Finnish company that arrived in Irapuato in 1982, Metso, is now starting the construction of its third plant in the municipality, which will focus on the production of polymer filter plates, state-of-the-art in terms of production processes, efficiency and quality.

For the creation of this plant, the company is making an investment of $39.9 million dollars.

It is estimated that the plant will have an area of more than 18,000 square meters in the first stage, with a storage capacity of 8,500 square meters. The first filter plates are expected to be manufactured in the second half of 2024 and full production capacity will be reached in the first half of 2025. Once fully operational, the factory will have the capacity to serve the entire filter portfolio.

Lorena Alfaro García, municipal president, highlighted that the confidence of the companies already installed is also reflected in the expansions, consolidating Irapuato as a city where business thrives and is profitable.

» Metso executives expect the plant to start production of polymer for filter presses in the second half of next year.

"Metso is one of the great companies that saw the benefits of Irapuato and Guanajuato, and trusted in the extraordinary capacity of its people to start operations in 1982, it is very gratifying to be here to confirm that, since then, the company has been growing and promoting the development of our municipality," she said. It is estimated that the company will be employing around 70 new direct jobs and 40 indirect jobs.

Metso is a global company with a presence in more than 50 countries, where it employs more than 14,000 people. It is a global leader in sustainable technologies, end-to-end solutions and services for the aggregates, mineral processing and metal refining industries worldwide.
