Horton Automatics opens new plant

The company will generate 200 new jobs in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.

The American company Horton Automatics inaugurated its new manufacturing plant with an investment of 20 million dollars and will be located in the Finsa Oriente Industrial Park in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.


This new complex will have an estimated 200,000 square feet and will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology, as well as an engineering test laboratory to improve efficiency and quality; it will also have the capacity to house more than 200 direct and indirect workers.


It should be noted that Horton is a company dedicated to the metal-mechanical industry with the development of access doors of all types, from automatic, manual, swing, sliding, revolving, platform screens, transit, hurricane-proof, among others; covering industries such as government, health, commercial, airports, railway system, among others.

The president of the American firm, Joy Ribble, explained that this headquarters will be the continuation of the activities previously carried out in the entity since 2007, in a plant of contiguous operations and which was its only manufacturing center in the country.

"We are growing, we have new facilities, as well as new machinery and we have hired more staff to remain competitive, the automatic doors that are manufactured here have a seal of quality and guarantee because of the skilled labor that exists in the municipality," he said.

Ribble added that this decision was based on the strong performance of the Mexican team, the availability of qualified talent and a favorable business environment. The company also opened a distribution center in Mercedes, Texas, to further strengthen its presence on the border.

"This investment will not only boost the growth of Horton Automatics, but will also contribute to the economic development of northern Tamaulipas," she added.

New facilities attended

The event was attended by the Undersecretary of Investment of the Ministry of Economy, Anabell Flores Garza, who was present at the ribbon cutting, while the manager of the Horton plant in Matamoros, Ruben Aznar, led a tour of the new facilities and provided an overview of growth in production lines.
