Audi has announced an investment of over one billion euros in its San José Chiapa plant in Puebla, aiming to advance electromobility and enhance its position in this field. The investment will focus on producing vehicles with e-tron technology—hybrids and electric vehicles—requiring significant upgrades to the plant's infrastructure and equipment.

Tarek Mashhour, CEO of Audi Mexico, expressed his hope that this investment will solidify Puebla as a hub for electromobility. "We will equip our facilities to produce e-tron vehicles and are grateful for the ongoing support from the government," he stated.

Mashhour emphasized that such investments are crucial for maintaining Puebla’s competitiveness and attractiveness to the automotive industry. He also highlighted the importance of linking with local universities to foster research and professional development in new technologies.

Additionally, Mashhour called on authorities to support local talent in electric mobility areas, such as software development and battery production, to ensure these benefits remain within the region. The investment is expected to create 500 new jobs, complementing the existing 5,000 positions at the company.

» Audi’s continued investment in Puebla underscores its commitment to the country and its future in electromobility.

Secretary of Economy Ermilo Barrera Novelo noted that, under Governor Sergio Salomón’s leadership, Puebla aims to become a leader in electromobility and Industry 4.0, positioning itself as a hub for clean technology and sustainable projects.
